Description
Warburgia ugandensis, or the “pepper-bark tree,” is a spreading evergreen tree from Africa, reaching heights of 5-42 meters, characterized by a rounded crown, rough brown-black bark, and glossy dark green leaves. It has inconspicuous, greenish-cream flowers and produces round to egg-shaped fruits with a waxy, white surface containing flat, heart-shaped seeds. Its aromatic inner bark is bitter and peppery, lending the tree its common name, and it holds significant medicinal value in treating various ailments, including respiratory issues, stomach problems, and malaria.
