Description
The Croton tree (Croton megalocarpus) is a fast-growing, drought-tolerant African tree known for its distinctive layered branches and flat, spreading crown that provides light shade. It features rough, dark grey bark and long, oval leaves with a dull green top and a pale, silvery underside. The tree produces pale yellow flowers in spikes and yields woody, greyish-brown capsules containing three flattened seeds. Used for timber, firewood, shade, and as a live fence, its bark also has medicinal properties, treating ailments like intestinal worms.
